Marriage Contract

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding! Marriage is a blessing from Allah (SWT) and a part of our religion. A wedding is a joyful event, and we are delighted that you have chosen us to share the occasion with.

If you would like to be married at the Islamic Foundation of Lincoln or request the Imam to officiate your wedding ceremony, you must complete the following steps to make the Nikkah as smooth as possible:

Nikkah Requirements and Checklist

The following six points must be satisfied before the marriage contract can be completed:

  • Step 1: Appointment: Please set up an appointment for the contract at least three (3) days in advance for the convenience of our Imam, Board of Directors, and the community.
  • Step 2: Free Will: The offer of marriage and acceptance must be freely and willingly.
  • Step 3: Mahr (Dowry): The Mahr (Dowry) gift, given to the Bride, by the party of the Groom must be discussed and agreed upon.
  • Step 4: Wali (Guardian): The “Wali” (Guardian) of the bride must be available.
  • Step 5: Witnesses: Two Muslim witnesses must be present. If unavailable, please let us know as soon as possible.
  • Step 6: Identification: Every party written in the marriage contract must have their driver’s license present.
